WHO: President's office responds to PAIA
PAIA notice served 23 October, we received a reply from the office yesterday.
A few weeks ago, we served a PAIA application on stakeholders within and around the South African government, requesting information related to disturbing amendments to International Health Regulations (IHR) and a (proposed) new pandemic treaty. PAIA gives legislative effect to the right of access to information in accordance with section 32 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996.
You can read about this PAIA request and what we specifically asked for here:
We received a reply - and a transfer to a senior official
What does this tell us? That governments know we have the right to know
What must we remember?
On page 6 of the “Basic Documents” of the World Health Organization, it says…“Informed opinion and active co-operation on the part of the public are of the utmost importance in the improvement of the health of the people.”
On pages 98 - 99 of “Basic Documents” of the World Health Organization, it says…
“Principles: 5. WHO’s engagement with non-State actors is guided by the following overarching principles. Any engagement must: (h) be conducted on the basis of transparency, openness, inclusiveness, accountability, integrity and mutual respect.”
What can we do? Serve PAIA’s and FOIA’s on your governments asap.
Freedom of information requests have been submitted from people in Australia, Finland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States. Email requests have been sent to members of the International Health Regulations Review Committee (IHRRC) as well as to over a dozen members of the United States delegation to the WHO.Want more updates? NB: The WHO received over 33 000 comments against the ‘new pandemic treaty’. They have never faced opposition like this - and like us. As you resist the control over our health, autonomy and sovereignty, remember, there IS a better way.
Well done & Thank you.
Brilliant, awesome work, Shabnam! Yes, don't we know about government departments, and their ways of passing the buck, thanks once again for your persistence, Shabnam!
